You’ai Care partners with You’ai Hospital to provide care for hospice and cancer patients, conducts educational programs related to elder care issues in the community, and operates service-learning camps for children and youth.

You’ai Care partners with You’ai Hospital to provide care for hospice and cancer patients. It also conducts educational programs related to elder care issues in the community and operates service-learning camps for children and youth. You’ai Care is located in an area of China where Church of the Brethren missions were focused in the 20th century.
Volunteers will work with programs of You’ai Care and You’ai Hospital based on interests and abilities. They will provide care to patients through visiting, serving food and drink, and organizing activities. Volunteers may also assist with office work, develop English-language promotional materials and webpages, assist with grant-writing, and develop and lead camp and community outreach programs.
Volunteers live in or near the project house. There are very few foreigners in this area, and little English is spoken. A volunteer must be prepared to live closely with the project staff and volunteers on a daily basis, and yet also endure a level of isolation.
Volunteers must be at least 21 years old; older adults are welcome. No specific degree is required. Volunteers with interest or experience in medical care, nursing, rehabilitation, and social work are preferred. Willingness to learn Mandarin Chinese is a must; prior knowledge is preferred.
